The beginning: Love, loss, and a turning point

This chapter delves into the origins of my relationship with Calvin, intertwined with the most profound loss of my life. It sets the foundation for understanding the complex journey that unfolded, marked by both unwavering support and unexpected betrayal.

A new chapter begins, then shattered

My journey with Calvin began in April of 2017. It was a new chapter, full of hopeful beginnings. However, life had an unforeseen, tragic turn awaiting me later that year. In late October 2017, my world crumbled when my Mother, the most important person in my life and my best friend, passed away. The news of her brain tumor came suddenly on a Thursday, leading to emergency surgery that very evening. It was a harrowing experience to watch her struggle, having to relearn basic functions like walking and talking. The ordeal was made even more devastating when the biopsy confirmed she had stage 4 lung cancer.

Unveiling the true colors

As an only child, caring for my Mom became my sole focus. I moved back home in August, and Calvin, surprisingly, came with me. He was truly amazing with her, offering help in every way he could. During what was undoubtedly the worst time of my life, he seemed to be my rock, supporting me through unimaginable grief. It was because of this apparent devotion that I was utterly shocked by his actions on the night of her funeral. That night, a single event unfolded that would irrevocably set the tone for our entire relationship, revealing a side of him I never anticipated.

Connect with my story

This chapter is a raw and honest look at the convergence of deep personal loss and the formative stages of a relationship that would come to define much of my subsequent experience. While I'm still discovering who my readers are, I hope this foundational story resonates with anyone who has faced unexpected grief or found themselves navigating the complexities of a relationship under immense personal strain. It's a testament to how pivotal moments can reveal true character and alter the course of our lives.
